If you really want it then work for it!

The words were pencil-ly inscribed at the back of my Quran – the one that I used to do the tasmi’ with the Sheikh. It was written few weeks ago on account of my bad murajaah (review) of Surah At-Talaq, At-Tahrim and Al-Mulk. I was so accustomed to the surah(s) that the movement of my tongue is much faster than the processing of my brain, nearing the state of glibness.

It turned out that I missed much of the importance tajwid of the surah(s) most notably Mad Jaiz Munfasil and Mad Wajib Muttasil not to mention the drones of the nun syaddah in much of the stopping ayah of At-Talaq.

“Anta misy quwais al-yaum (You’re not good today)”

(Nodded listlessly)

“Limaza? (Why?)”

(Silence)

I knew the reason. It’s just that I prefer to keep it to myself.

“Tahtaj ila al-ijtihad (You need to work hard)”

(Nodded..again)

How many times in life have it been that whenever we feel as if we’ve already mastered a thing, it turned out that we were actually nowhere far from where we began?

How many times did we let slip some small things in negligence of their importance in order to hurriedly seize up bigger upshot to find out that their hefty pertinence were much greater than what we prematurely thought?

How many times did we feel something so effortless to pass but still couldn’t we get through?

It’s not about the number of times it occurred or recurred or how much we’ve been distrait of things. It’s about how we learned and continue to learn from such loss or slip up, that we someday could benefit from it.

Maybe sometimes we got things wrong, but it’s alright. Chin up and stand tall.

Just take a good look into ourselves and work our donkey on for the things we really really want, we really really need. Probably after this we would be higher than what we’ve been trying to reach even before we know it.

Next week would be the tasmi’ of Surah Qaf and murajaah of Surah Ar-Rahman and Al-Waqi’ah. We’ll see how it goes.
